How To Clean A Burnt Scanpan Fry Pan
What to do if your saucepan is burnt? As in so burnt that washing-up detergent and a brush isn't going to be enough? Start with a scourer and some elbow grease? Use tough cleaning agents? Or is it so bad that you need to throw the saucepan away because you haven't been able to get it clean? Don't panic, there are other alternatives that can help you restore your burnt saucepan to its former glory.
Below is not a complete list of cleaning methods for burnt saucepans, but there are a few alternatives that don't require harsh cleaning agents, the purchase of special equipment or similar.
- 01
Washing detergent (for clothes)
Pour some water in the bottom of the saucepan (200 ml), add some detergent (1 tbsp or what you would normally put in your washing machine) and turn on the cooker. Bring the mixture to the boil and let it boil for approx. 10 minutes. Then clean the pan with normal water and washing-up detergent. Remove any residual burnt-on food with a scourer.
- 02
Dishwasher detergent
Dishwasher detergent for dishwashers is stronger than ordinary washing-up detergent, which is why you may find that dishwasher detergent, both powder and tabs, is able to dissolve food residue that ordinary washing-up detergent can't. Pour approx. 200 ml of water in the pan, add the dishwasher detergent and boil for approx. 10 minutes. Then clean the saucepan with water and normal washing-up liquid (for washing by hand) - use a scourer if necessary.
